What are Homophones? Definition :  Homophones are special words that sound the same when we say them, but they have different meanings and are spelled differently. Examples: I (when you talk about yourself) and eye (the part of your body you see with). Ate (the past tense of eat) and eight (the number 8). There (a place), their (something that belongs to them), and they’re (short for “they are”). Sea (a big body of saltwater) and see (to look at something). 👉 Homophones can be tricky, but learning them makes reading and writing more fun!
